Brief Overview
The cross-horizon typology of other vessel types found on this page is designed to illustrate the range of vessels that stand out from the usual typologies. The lexicon gives the complete listing of codes and their associated definition. In addition, a list of shape codes including other vessels is further defined on the shapes-codes page.
Other vessels cover a range of types that do not conform to the standard typologies of jars, bowls, stands, etc. The o–5 vessels have an upper body that could suggest a jar or bowl, but the shallowness and thickening near the base make this type unusual. The high foot and shallow bowl shape sets o–10 apart from both the stands and the bowls. Type o–101trs is a small vessel, but distinguished by its handles of the double strand round type. Other types, such as o–102 are rare and unusual and the fragmentary nature of the preserved portions makes it unclear if these are stand bases, or rims on a restricted vessel of some type. For this reason they are incorporated here with the other vessels.
The range of types here indicates the breadth of the corpus at Mozan, including traditional shapes as well as these unusual types.
